This Choice About Uncirculated example is an attractive representative of the issue. Rich honey-rose surfaces are accented with pale pinkish color and retain appreciable frosty mint luster. Marks are light and virtually imperceptible during in-hand viewing. The coin displays a bold to sharp strike. As the final year of the Classic Head quarter eagle series, conventional wisdom would expect many pieces to have been numismatically preserved, but apparently that was not the case with this Philadelphia Mint issue. The mintage of 27,021 pieces shows surprisingly few grading events today.
