ロット詳細

One of just 6,738 reported to have been struck, and a classic date nearly throughout the scope of American numismatics. Pleasantly toned, bringing to mind long-term storage in an old album. Rich gold, red, blue and green accent the obverse, while the reverse is mostly silver gray with rings of toning near the rims. As expected for the grade, the rims have faded into the legends, but nearly all letters in the legend on the reverse are at least 50% visible, while the peripheral details of the obverse are somewhat sharper. The date is complete and the central details are actually quite good. Not a high grade survivor, but very desirable nonetheless and requiring not a single apology. This is the rarer of the two known varieties of the 1804-dated quarter issue, and the Condition Census for the variety extends well down into the circulated grade levels, while that of the B-1 variety includes only Mint State pieces.
